I’ve been unplugged for a lot longer than I thought I would. I thought I was traveling home for the weekend to attend my sister’s graduation (she graduated with highest honors, by the way!). But as it turned out, I was starting out on the worst car trip ever. On the way there, my cat had an asthma attack (only his second in two years) in the Middle of No Where Wisconsin. It took my dad, his internet connection, and my cell phone to finally find a vet 30 miles away who could see him and shoot him full of steroids.
Then came the graduation, which was nice.
Then on Monday I started out to drive home, but wrecked my car instead. I did it not even half a mile from my parents’ house, and I didn’t hurt any one else or anything else, which is good. But I did completely wreck my car, and suffered the effects of being hit in the head by an air bag. I don’t recommend it.
But I’m home again and fine, except for being kind of shaken up. I’m hoping for a really, truly, bone-numbingly boring rest of the week.
You best take care of yourself!
I saw the car pic at Flickr 1st. I’m just glad you captioned it.
I made it to Toronto after a long (and uneventful) ride.
Rest up.
Good grief! Glad to hear you are OK.
How scary! Glad to hear you’re okay, even if the car is a write-off!
May I send you a card or something? Email me a postal address if you’d like a postcard (only if you’d like to, ignore if you don’t :) )
I had no idea cats can have asthma!!
Poor cat! Poor you!
Glad to hear everyone is OK.
Thanks for your well-wishes, everyone. It means a lot to me.
And yes, CW, cats can have asthma. Pippin only has a very mild form, so this was only his second attack ever (in two years).
I’m just glad to hear you’re ok and that no one was hurt in the accident. It sucks to total your car, but it’s just a thing. Cars can be replaced. You and your cat, on the other hand, are irreplaceable.
Pets and traveling are rarely a good combination. Once, on a family trip, I almost killed my dog twice. First, I left a half pound of chocolate fudge on the bed (which is toxic for dogs and, to add insult to injury, our dog only weighed 12 pounds). Luckily she just threw up a lot in the hotel room we were staying in. My parents were just thrilled with me.
Two days later, we were going to Sea World and I accidentally closed the door on my dog’s leg. Let’s just say that I have never been to Sea World; not that day or since.
It’s amazing to me that she ever liked me again after that trip. I felt horrible and my mother was convinced that I did it all on purpose.
I’m really glad you and your cat are okay, Iris. Welcome back to the grid!
Oh wow, Meredith! That’s quite a trip.
