Portal’s Alternate Author Agreement

After the peer review and copy editing process, my co-authors and I sat down to the last step in getting our article published by Portal. And their standard author agreement is actually pretty darn good!

My professional values, though, include an author’s right to his or her own copyrights whenever possible. So, bolstered by Catherine’s report that she had asked for an alternate agreement for the same reasons, my co-authors and I asked if there was any way we could retain our copyright while still granting the journal all the rights it needs in order to conduct its business. And here is the result!

I’ve always respected this journal, but now I’m even more pleased to have an article accepted there (probably coming out in April).
